Footnotes
Arena's Best-of-One and Best-of-Three queues change how sideboards are used in practice — check the event or queue rules when validating a specific deck.
Commander Draft follows the Commander rules framework, which establishes no sideboard. Unlike ordinary Draft, leftover drafted cards are not a sideboard.
Where these come from
| Rule | What it establishes |
| 100.2a |
Constructed decks have a minimum deck size of 60 cards. |
| 100.2b |
Limited decks have a minimum deck size of 40 cards. |
| 100.4a |
A constructed sideboard may contain no more than 15 cards. |
| 100.4b |
In individual Limited play, every card in a player's pool not in the main deck is part of their sideboard — so Limited sideboards are not capped at 15. |
| 100.5 |
There is no maximum deck size for non-Commander decks. |
| 903 |
Commander: exactly 100 cards including the commander, singleton, no sideboard. |
| 903.12 |
Brawl: exactly 60 cards including the commander. |
| 903.13 |
Commander Draft: 60 card minimum, no maximum. |
A practical tournament deck still needs to be physically shufflable.
